»Glenn M. Pfeiffer, Ph.D.
Dr. Glenn M. Pfeiffer serves as the Acting Provost at Chapman University and holds the Warren and Doris Uehlinger Endowed Professorship in Business. He earned his Ph.D. in Accounting and M.S. in Finance from Cornell University, following a bachelor's degree in Economics from Hope College.
Since joining Chapman in 1995, Dr. Pfeiffer has held several key leadership positions, including President of the Faculty Senate (2007–08), Associate Dean of the Argyros School of Business and Economics (2012–2014), Vice Chancellor for Academic Administration (2014-2016), and Provost (2016-2021). Before arriving at Chapman, he held faculty appointments at the University of Washington, University of Chicago, University of Arizona, and San Diego State University.
A distinguished teacher and scholar, Dr. Pfeiffer’s research focuses on accounting disclosures and capital markets. His work spans topics such as lease and inventory reporting, earnings per share, fair value disclosures, executive compensation, and corporate restructuring. He has published extensively in academic journals across accounting, finance, economics, and management, and is the author of three textbooks, a casebook, and numerous financial accounting case studies.
Dr. Pfeiffer is a dedicated educator, having taught financial accounting and analysis at the undergraduate, MBA, Executive MBA, and law school levels. His excellence in teaching has been recognized with several awards, including Chapman’s prestigious Valerie Scudder Award in 2007.
Roles and Responsibilities of the Provost
The Provost and Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs is the University’s Chief Academic Officer. She is a member of the President’s Senior Staff and works in close partnership with the President, Board of Trustees, Vice Presidents, Deans, Faculty, and Staff to ensure the institution's vitality and excellence.

Academic Leadership: The Provost offers academic leadership spanning education, research, and faculty recruitment and advancement.
Student Success: The Provost oversees initiatives to enhance the overall student experience and supports endeavors that boost student achievement and well-being.
Research and Scholarship: The Provost fosters a culture of research, scholarly and creative endeavors, and promotes external funding opportunities and partnerships that can enhance the university's research capacity.
Curriculum and Program Development: The Provost contributes to the design and enhancement of academic programs and curricula that align with the university's mission.
Accreditation and Assessment: The Provost leads efforts to maintain the university's accreditation and collaborates with accrediting bodies to fulfill academic standards.
Academic Policies and Standards: The Provost establishes and upholds academic policies, ensuring the integrity of academic pursuits.
Academic Budget and Resource Management: The Provost stewards the academic budget and allocates resources to different academic units and initiatives, ensuring optimal resource utilization.
